Alternative Water Treatment
The Problem: Hard Water, Hard Costs
Hard water is a major challenge in industrial operations like cooling towers and heat exchangers. It causes scale buildup, clogs systems, reduces efficiency, and drives up maintenance costs.
To manage it, most systems rely on salt-based water softening, which brings its own problems.
Traditional Softeners Use Salt, Chemicals—and Create Waste
Large volumes of salt and regeneration chemicals
Routine flushing, producing brine waste that's difficult and expensive to manage
High operational costs and environmental impacts
The Roca Solution
We’re developing an early-stage electrochemical system that softens water without salt, chemicals, or brine discharge. The system selectively removes scaling ions like calcium using a battery-inspired process that works with electricity alone.
No salt. No discharge. Just cleaner water, more efficiently.
Our current system is in the proof-of-concept phase (TRL 2). We’re actively testing and refining materials and design to make this a viable alternative to traditional softeners.
